Join us for a guided field trip at Homestead Historical National Park!
The Homestead Act of 1862 transformed the world. Millions were invited to file claims including, families, immigrants, single women, and freed slaves. Over 10 percent of the United States was homesteaded! The land, long inhabited by American Indian cultures, changed forever. Homesteaders created settlements and farms, drove industrial advancement, and built our nation chasing the American Dream.
Schedule:
10:15-10:30 am: Arrive at Homestead National Park
10:30-10:45 am: Welcome
10:45-11:15 am: Movie
11:15-11:45 am: Museum
11:45-12:15 pm: Prairie walk from Heritage Center to Education Center. (Make sure to wear warm clothes)
12:15-1:00 pm: Lunch (Please bring your own to eat on site)
1:00 - 1:30 pm: Stake your Claim
1:30 -2:00 pm: Day in the life
2:00 - 2:45 pm: Buffalo Trunk
2:45 - 3:00 pm: Conclusion/Depart
Registration closes on Wednesday, November 2nd at 8:00 pm
